It's a royal PITA, isn't it? I live 5 minutes from the state line, and I can't practice on the other side of the river because I haven't jumped through all the hoops (or paid the exorbitant fees) that state puts in the way of licensure. On the other hand, I've known an awful lot of Canadian colleagues who have immigrated here for work, so it's not insurmountable. Just really, really unfun.
You have my sympathies Clifford. Speaking as someone who experiences the red tape from the other side (as the American in Canada), it's an endless stream of visas, permits, and fees. Welcome to my world!
